Getting experience or getting money

Maybe it’s just me, but I think it’s kind of funny how you’re starting out as a filmmaker (In my case, after I graduated from film school), that you look past or don’t apply for any of the paid gigs because you don’t have the experience, but after you do gain some experience (I built my resume and IMDB with a year of unpaid gigs all last year), those paid gigs doesn’t pop up on job as often.
